10 Calorie Burning Date Ideas

Dinner and a movie seem to be America’s go-to date and have been for quite a long time. I think the time has come to challenge these dates and take the next step to incorporating fitness into your everyday life. Why choose a calorie laden meal and follow it up with a sedentary activity, when you could be out enjoying the beautiful day and getting a workout with the person in your life? I am a firm believer that getting healthy is more than just hitting the gym 3 times a week. It has to be a lifestyle change and one of the  best ways to make that change than by getting your partner on board. I chose these date ideas because they could be first dates or dates for the couples who have been married for years. I hope you get a chance to try them out. Feel free to share if you have any more unique ideas for calorie burning dates.

1. Go cross-country skiing

Breathtaking view, cozy up weather, and sharing some Spiced Gingerbread tea. It could be so romantic and the best part,  60 minutes of cross-country skiing could burn anywhere from 480 to 620 calories*.

2. Take a dance class together

Who doesn’t think Latin dancing is sexy? Just 60 minutes of Salsa dancing can burn around 300 calories*.

3. Go Indoor Rock Climbing

Embrace your sense of adventure with indoor rock climbing. You could burn 550-700 calories on this date*.

4. Go to a Trampoline Gymnasium

This would have to be the most ridiculously fun first date ever. Trampoline gyms are popping up everywhere and we are lucky enough to have one close by. I am definitely going to start bugging my husband to take me here for a date. 60 minutes of jumping on a trampoline could burn around 213 calories*.

5. Go for a long walk on the beach – seriously

Yes, this is seriously cliché, but it stays around for a reason; it is so romantic. Walking hand in hand as the sun sets over the water and 60 minutes of moderate walking can burn around 200 calories*.

6. Go for a hike to someplace romantic

Discover a hidden trail or go on a path to a beautiful waterfall. Pack a picnic to make this date perfectly romantic. 60 minutes of hiking can burn 400-500 calories*.

7. Go ice skating or roller skating

I don’t live where it snows regularly, so usually I think anything involving snow or ice is romantic.  Luckily, ice skating rinks are popping up everywhere now, even where it doesn’t snow. If it’s summer time, try roller skating instead. 60 minutes of ice skating can burn around 300 calories*.

8. Go for a tandem bike ride

There are so many local bike shops that you can rent a bike from for only an hour or for the whole day. Find a great romantic bike trail and make this date into an adventure. 60 minutes of moderate cycling on a tandem bike can burn around 550 calories*.

9. Rent a Surry bicycle

Discover a local city or beach town on a Surry. They are kind of quirky, but can be super cute and romantic. 60 minutes of light cycling on a Surry can burn around 400 calories*.

This can be a perfect secluded getaway, for only the afternoon. For 60 minutes of kayaking you could burn around 345 calories*.
